Newly elected MP Clive Palmer - head of the Palmer United Party (PUP) - uses his numbers in the Senate to block the repeal of the Carbon Tax which was a platform of the Liberal party election campaign led by Prime Minister Tony Abbott. The Bill had passed through the Lower House. However Palmer has introduced amendments that now have to be approved by the House of Representatives before the bill can be presented again to the Upper House - the Senate.
