The City of Melbourne hosts WEF.

One week before the Olympics and the City of Melbourne is hosting the World Economic Forum (WEF) and the S-11 organisation, a group set up to protest at the WEF.

There was widespread concern that the protests would end in violence and lead to large scale disruption of the city, as they did in Seattle. Apart from some disruption to traffic and a few small incidents these fears turned out to be largely unfounded.
