A rough week for the Howard Government.
As the Formula One Grand Prix takes place in Melbourne, an escalating number
of issues continue to cause problems for Prime Minister John Howard and
his government: the aged care issue worsens with revelations that some
elderly in Queensland nursing homes may have died from neglect, National
Party MPs take issue with Telstra's quality of service in the bush, and the
Australian Competition and Consumer Commission raises concerns about the
proposed takeover of the Colonial Bank by the Commonwealth Bank.
