The kiss of death!

Former stable hand Les Lewis had confessed on his deathbed that he had 'nobbled' Big Philou, a New Zealand stayer horse who was favourite for the 1969 Melbourne Cup. Trained by Bart Cummings, Big Philou was scratched only 40 minutes before the Cup was run.
