Shaking the ground!

A Federal election loomed. Mr Bernie Fraser was Governor and Chairman of the Reserve Bank at this time.

After the recession troubles of the early 1990's the RBA had adopted a flexible inflation-targeting framework There was no movement in the cash rate during 1995. However the funds target rate was increased seven times in 1994-1995 and then reduced three times in 1995 - 1996.
