Changing batsman.

Alexander Downer resigned as Leader of the Federal Liberal Party of Australia on 26th January, 1995. He left the position open for John Howard who became Prime Minister in March 1996. Downer served as Foreign Minister until 3rd December 2007 becoming Australia's longest serving Foreign Minister.
