The Mother of All Battles...Following the cease fire which bought the first Gulf War to an end on March 3rd 1991, open rebellion flared up in Iraq. The rebellion was ruthlessly put down by the regime with widespread reports of many civilian casualties. Suleimaniyeh, the first city captured by the peshmerga guerrillas in the north, was the last place the rebellion survived. The city was recaptured by the regime on the 3rd of April 1991, after a counteroffensive lasting three days. |
