Prime Minister Bob Hawke and Treasurer Paul Keating are fending off the effects that stem from the 1987 Stockmarket Crash and the start of the 'Recession Australia had to have'. High interest rates, unemployment and increasing foreign debt cause concern, especially as an election loomed towards end of 1992 or early months of 1993.
