In November, 1989 the Berlin Wall was destroyed and hundreds of citizens broke free from Soviet rule after years of imprisonment behind the Berlin Wall and other border blockades.

Ingenious escapes had been devised over the years. Some ended tragically but many were successful, in the case of the one pictured, you'd hope they got their money back!
