Against the background of terrible events in Tiananmen Square in Beijing,China, there were meetings between US President Ronald Reagan and USSR President - General Secretary Mikhail Gorbechev. Together they achieved what seemed impossible - the fall of the Berlin Wall and ultimately the dismantling of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics - without going to war.
