Innocent!

At the Australian Labor Party Conference in June, 1988 there were reverberations from the New York Stock Exchange crash of October, 1987. Bob Hawke was Prime Minister and Treasurer Paul Keating had gradually guided Australia into the globalized economy starting with the float of the dollar after the election win of 1983. Business regulations and broader financial arrangements had been deregulated and Australia became party to the movement of international financial markets.
