In the spirit of compromise.

The Moomba Weekend in Melbourne occurs on the Labor Day long weekend and traditionally there is a huge city parade with many floats to celebrate aspects of city life.

In 1988 there were widespread protests over a planned high energy powerline between Richmond and Brunswick in Melbourne due to concerns about electromagnetic radiation and the powerline's affect on the scenery it was to traverse. At the time the State Electricity Commission (SEC) was in charge of the project and, while a regular participant in the Moomba parade, was very unpopular as a result of the power line project. Was there a way they could avoid upsetting the public further?
