Looking for a new premier!

At this point discussions were being held about the proposed ALCOA aluminium smelter in Portland, the site of which was in Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser's electorate. Negotiations were going on about the proposed price of electricity for the enterprise. Premier Lindsay Thompson had doubts about the costs and flexibility of electricity prices that would be subsidised by the State of Victoria. Opposition Leader John Cain had environmental as well as cost problems under review.
