Safe job, guess again!

A Victorian State Election had been held on 5th May, 1979. There had been a swing against the incumbent Liberal Party Premier Rupert Hamer as Labor Opposition Leader Frank Wilkjes increased Labor Party support among the electorate substantially but didn't win.

ACTU President Bob Hawke was loud in raising questions of workers rights such as national superannuation and work conditions.
