A bit hot down under!

The position of Governor General was at the centre of debate during the visit of Queen Elizabeth to Australia. Her extensive tour of Commonwealth countries was to celebrate her Jubilee Year since her accession to the throne 25 years earlier. Sir John Kerr was the Governor General at the time, replaced by Sir Zelman Cowen on the 8th December 1977.
