Looking ahead.

On 26th February Aboriginal Australian Lionel Rose won the World Bantamweight boxing title by a victory over Masahiko "Fighting" Harada of Japan in Tokyo. He returned home to a hero's welcome.

Apparently he used to burn gum leaves for luck. Aboriginal Australians had been given the vote as a result of a referendum in the previous year, but there was still a long way to go.
