Paul Hasluck, then Minister for Defence, expresses support for the
American effort in Vietnam, despite concerns at the time about the equipment
being used by the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). Paul Hasluck later
became Sir Paul
Hasluck and The Governor General of Australia.
This cartoon was done for The Saturday Evening Mercury Tasmania, prior to Jeff
introducing his trademark hook. The
cartoon icons were the famous rhubarb tin - inspired by the 'rhubarb'
asides in the Goon Show - and the inclusion of Jeff's two sons who are seen
parachuting to earth together with their father!
