Victory, but not quite an Oscar!Prime Minister Julia Gillard and her predecessor Kevin Rudd have a final showdown as to who will lead the Australian Federal Labor Party. Julia Gillard wins the 103 person caucus committee vote by 71 to 31 votes, with one member absent because of childbirth. After the result both combatants publicly pledged that they would focus on provision for and government of the Australian people, who definitely appear to be looking for results. The ALP's primary vote almost got down to 30% in the lead up to the challenge. |
