The Murray River water supply is in a crisis effecting the whole of the river and especially The Coorong, Lake Alexandrina and areas at the mouth.

The Murray (also known as "The Mighty Murray") flows through New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia. The pipeline proposal is a reference to a proposed plan to prop up Melbourne's water supplies by running a pipe from the Goulburn Valley.
