In time of severe drought Gippsland gets heavy rain. Existing storage Glenmaggie Weir overflows on both occasions with resultant flooding in the area. On the Latrobe River,which gets a 'one in two year flood' there is a landslide which causes the Latrobe to flow directly into the open- cut coal mine at Yallourn. Victorian Labor Premier John Brumby and State Energy Minister Peter Batchelor have decisions to make.
