Forty-three S11 protestors, who in the year 2000 mounted an anti-globalization protest at the World Economic Forum in Melbourne, Victoria, sued Victoria Police, on the basis of injury. In a secret deal the Government of Victoria paid $700,000 to the protestors in compensation after taking legal advice. 170 police were injured over the 3 days of protests.
