Australia's Liberal Prime Minister John Howard holds a water crisis meeting with States' Premiers of Queensland, New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory, South Australia and Victoria on the issue of the Federal management of the Murray-Darling Basin river system. It is presently under the control of the various states. Consensus was reached with all states except Victoria headed by Labor Premier Steve Bracks.
