On 6th January 1999 the engagement was announced of HRH Prince Edward, fourth child of Queen Elizabeth II and HRH Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh, to Miss Sophie Rhys-Jones. After marriage on 19th June, 1999 the couple took the titles of The Earl and Countess of Wessex.
