Art and economics.
On 18th October 1994 Prime Minister Paul Keating had launched 'Creative Nation', a cultural policy in which support for the arts was linked to future economic prosperity in Australia.
While other cities (such as Melbourne in this example!) in Australia are not without icons, at the time the two most famous were in Sydney - The Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge. Given the link of arts to economic prosperity an artist could have been forgiven for putting more emphasis on the word "creative" in every sense.
The Sydney Harbour Bridge, seen in the sketch, had its 75th Anniversary on 19th March, 2007, with celebrations and its addition to the National Heritage List being on the 18th of March, 2007.
