Going for broke!

The Aboriginal Embassy had again been re-erected in the Parliamentary Triangle in Canberra on 26th January, 1992. Members of the embassy presented the Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs, Mr Robert Tickner, with the Declaration of Aboriginal Sovereignty which had earlier been sent to the United Nations and foreign embassies. Protestors were removed from Old Parliament House and four arrested. The arrests meant that claims for sovereignty and land rights could be heard by the courts.
