It was the 1990 Spring Horse Racing Carnival in Melbourne, Victoria. There were high hopes for the coming Caulfield Cup and the prosperity that some might win. Australia was in a recession. How was our Prime Minister Bob Hawke and our Treasurer Paul Keating going to solve the economic woes?
