Erm, oh these...

Deputy Premier of Victoria and Education Minister Joan Kirner hosts visiting delegates from the International Olympic Committee. Their task was to decide on the suitability of Melbourne as a venue for the 1996 Summer Olympics. Atlanta later won.

At this time Melbourne's tram network was shutdown with trams stranded in various parts of the network as power had been cut to the network to prevent the union from running the service for free as part of ongoing industrial action. The train network also experienced industrial action.
