Wilson 'Ironbar' Tuckey was one of the leaders in the plot to get rid of John Howard as leader of the Federal Liberal Party. On 9th May, 1989 the plot had been successful and Andrew Peacock became leader of the Liberal Party. John Howard was even more infuriated when Tuckey went on national television to boast about the success of the coup. National Party Leader Ian Sinclair lost his leadership to Charles Blunt at the same time.
