Where'd he come from?

Prime Minister Bob Hawke and Liberal Party Leader John Howard gaze from Old Parliament House, Canberra as Premier of Queensland Joh Bjelke-Petersen makes a bid for Prime Ministership. This distraction from his State's affairs may have proved politically fatal as the result of corruption revealed by The Fitgerald Inquiry led to Joh being deposed as leader of The National Party on 26th November, 1987, with him resigning as Premier of Queensland on 1st December, 1987. At the next election the Labor Party came to office after 32 years in opposition.

The light airplane is a reference to Mathias Rust's flight in to Russia the previous week, you could say people were as much suprised by Joh's actions as the Russians were by Mathias's.
