On the 7th of Febuary after widespread industrial action by the Electrical
Trades Union (ETU), the Queensland Government issued a proclamation
proclaiming a State of Emergency. On the 11th 1,000 ETU members were
dismissed for failing to follow the proclamation and show up to work. Power
station output dropped by 50% and load shedding resulted in a "2 hours on-2 hours off" cycle, with the consequence of
widespread blackouts and disruption. Stable Power
supplies were not restored until the 21st...
