In 1984, John Stone former Head of Treasury. had already resigned after the election of the Hawke - Keating Government.
He had been critical of the economic policies of Malcolm Fraser's Liberal Government. At this time he made known his criticism of currency deregulation and was strongly against a Consumption Tax. he has continued to criticize economic policies on many fronts to the present day.
