The assets test report was a statement written from consultation with Australian pensioner groups in 1984 by ACOSS and the Australian Council on the Ageing.

On the 9th May the Hawke Labor government had also introduced an interim Protection Bill with the development of legislation regarding many aspects of land rights for Indigenous Peoples. There was still a long way to go.
