Ah! By the way...

The Bourke Street Mall in Melbourne, Australia was finally opened on 13th April, 1983 by their Royal Highnesses Prince Charles and Lady Diana. Since the initial idea in 1964, conceived by architects Robyn Boyd and Frederick Romberg years of contention had passed. The original separate pedestrian and tram/car overlays were abandoned and the Mall became a pedestrian and tram only Mall between Elizabeth and Swanston Streets. Consequently pedestrians have to be mindful of the trams that go through the space.
