Now, from where I sit...The federal parliamentary remuneration tribunal continued to allow rises in MP's pay. Some to and fro moves which achieved a reduction in the amount of the pay rise in 1981 were made by Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser and Treasurer John Howard. This accounted for a slight pause in the effect of the tribunal's continual reviews. |
