Blight plays on.

Malcolm Blight had resigned as coach of North Melbourne in the previous week, but continued to play on as captain. Two weeks earlier, on the other side of the globe, English cricket captain Ian Botham had resigned under similar pressure and went on to help England retain the Ashes - getting 149 not out. As it turned out, despite questions about him playing, Blight walked onto the field and broke a club record kicking 11 goals 6 points against Footscray.
