Getting a crowd!

In January 1980 the United Secretariat of the Fourth International USSR demanded a withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan. Some troop withdrawals began in June 1980, with the resolution becoming adopted as official in May 1981.

In the meanwhile, the Moscow Olympics were to be held in July, 1980 and in the face of a boycott by the US and almost 60 other teams there were concerns about how popular the games would be.
