The Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground is a traditional event. In 1975 in perfect weather Australia played the West Indies to an audience of 85,661 fans. The fifth highest attendance ever recorded. It was also at the Boxing Day Test in 1981 that Dennis Lillee equalled the world record holder Lance Gibbs for most wickets taken. He broke Gibbs' record the following day.
