A calling to arms!

After the 1st Cricket Test in Brisbane which Australia won by 166 runs there was talk of sending to England for support to counteract the Australian fast bowlers Dennis Lillee and Geoff Thompson.

The footer on the paper concerns Basil D'Oliviera who was not included. 'Dolly' as he was known became an icon for black South Africans. Forced to leave South Africa because of apartheid he played for England with great success. Finally he lead the first non-racial South African team. In 1974 England lost the Test Series and the Ashes.
