British Prime Minister Harold Wilson wanted nuclear submarines to power Belfast during the May 25th, 1974 Ulster Workers' Council strike which virtually made Northern Ireland ungovernable. The Troubles had broken out during Prime Minister Wilson's earlier term 1966-70 in 1969 - at the time as a result of a request from the government of the province the British Army was deployed in an effort to maintain the peace.
