The Problem of Contamination...

As a result of Cyclone Wanda subsequent rain had fallen on the city and surrounding areas of Brisbane, Queensland. People had been the victims of the disastrous floods that followed. Fourteen people had lost their lives and thousands of acres were inundated and homes destroyed. The Wivenhoe Dam was later constructed upstream to try to mitigate the effects of such build-up of water.

In the Southern State of Victoria polluted sea was a threatening problem for summer beachgoers in Port Phillip Bay.
