Same trick again?For the first time in 14 years an Australian Prime Minister and Labor Leader Gough Whitlam had visited India. Bill Snedden Leader of the Liberal Opposition had been vying for control of the Upper House and as the economy worsened and inflation rose he was waiting for Whitlam's return. In 1974 Whitlam held a double dissolution election which he won narrowly but he lost control of the Upper House. |
