Another perspective...

In the March 1969, "Transportation Plan For The City Of Melbourne" Premier Sir Henry Bolte outlined a public transport plan that included railway underground city loop and railway lines to Doncaster and Clayton - Monash University. Unfortunately the latter weren't built and the loop only much later and 87% of the money was spent on many kilometres of freeways for cars .
