Success!

After being the first spacecraft to actually reach and orbit the moon as well as a reconnoitre of the moon's surface, Apollo 8 had just safely returned to earth on 27th December, 1968. The craft was crewed by Frank Borman, James Lovell and William Anders.

Meantime on planet Earth the USA had also been successful and had defeated Spain in the finals of the Davis Cup held in Adelaide, Australia at Memorial Drive 26th - 28th December, 1968.
