And where will it end?

On the 23rd August 1967 a Red Guard mob had attacked the British Legation in Peking (Beijing). The main building of the British Embassy was later burned down. China was in the grip of The Cultural Revolution. Chairman Mao had written his Little Red Book - the mantra of the Red Guard of Chinese youth who demanded allegiance until death to the Communist Party and Mao from all sections of the population.

After Mao's death in 1976, Deng Xiaoping went on to lead China through many economic reforms...
